Five Supposedly Haunted Places (That i’ve been)

In honor of Halloween, here is a list of places i’ve been that are supposedly haunted

1.  Winchester Mystery House-CA

It’s easy to get creeped out by this place even without seeing or experiencing anything.  A house that was built by consulting with a psychic, it already has a strange vibe.  This house is most famous for its strange layout.  Stairs that lead up to a ceiling, doors that open up to walls, windows in the floor, a hidden “Seance room” and my personal favorite, the “Door to Nowhere”, which is a door that opens up to a 30 foot drop.

Creep Factor: 3

2.  Saint Augustine Lighthouse-

Featured on “Ghost Hunters”, this place can be seriously creepy at night.  For me, however, it was hard to stop long enough on the 100+ stairs up to seriously think about it.  I was too distracted by my heart wanting to jump out of my chest for the hike.  Not to mention that it was at that time that I discovered my slight fear of heights.

Creep Factor: 2

3.  Ripley’s Believe or Not Museum-Saint Augustine, FL, several other locations

I have been to many different Ripley’s Museums, and they are ALWAYS creepy.  However, this particular one is the original and so the supposedly “haunted”.  Almost every night, you can pay to go on a “Ghost Train” tour of Saint Augustine and it ends in Ripley’s Museum.  I didn’t really experience anything, but I certainly did get creeped out.  The museum is good for that no matter what time of day or night.

Creep Factor: 4 (Purely for the stuff they have in there, made creepier in the dark)

4.  Salem, Massachusetts

I put the town, cause lets face it, the whole town is supposed to be haunted.  They play on the story of the Salem Witch Trials pretty much everywhere.  Museums and graveyards are virtually on every other corner.  We partook in a few different museums and I definitely got the creep factor from a few of them.

5.  San Francisco (Nob Hill)-

While there are no gravesites in the city limits of San Francisco, you might find that it is MORE haunted because of that exact fact.  They moved several different graves in the hopes that they would create more room for the growing city.  There are also several different building built OVER ships that brought early settlers to the state.  Add in the catacombs underneath the city and you have a recipe for a truly creepy place.

5 things I learned about dances from the movies (That don’t actually happen)

1.  All dances have live bands (seen in: Countless teen flicks)

I don’t know how much of a budget these schools had, but I never, not once, had a live band at a school dance.  The best we could hope for was an aging, balding DJ with “Lady in Red”, “With or Without You” and “Boot Scootin’ Boogy” on repeat.

2.  The punch is always spiked.  (seen in:everything)

I am not disputing that if there was punch it would be spiked.  It probably would be.  I am disputing the fact that there would be punch in the first place. The only beverage that was every provided at my high school was the water at the drinking fountain.

3.  There will be a separate, more romantic and secluded area to dance for “serious couples” that usually features a string quartet or acoustic band, and sometimes a fancy gazebo! (seen in Cinderella Story, Twilight, others)

Every time I see this in a movie I am thinking one thing: you really think that there would be a place that is secluded area that there would just be no chaperon?  Right.

4.  The prom king/queen is announced at the dance

Does this happen at other people’s schools?  I can only draw on my own experience, but they announced them like a week in advance, and they repeat the winners at the dance, but there was no tense moment where it may or may not be the underdog that wins.

5.  There will be a choreographed dance number or musical number during the dance.

Please let this happen in real life!
